Attorney Servet Yildiz Stêrk recently participated in a conversation with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Minister of Labour and Inclusion Tonje Brenna on combating racism in Norway. The discussion took place at the Deichman Library in Oslo in conjunction with the government's launch of an action plan featuring 50 measures against racism and discrimination.
During the event, held on November 23, 2023, the Prime Minister initiated the dialogue with the question: "Can you tell me a time you experienced racism?" This prompted a discussion on racism and discrimination in Norwegian society.
According to the government, racism and discrimination remain issues in Norway, forming the basis for the new action plan. The measures are to be implemented across various sectors of society to counteract discrimination.
The conversation between Attorney Stêrk and the government representatives was part of the launch event, where personal experiences with racism were highlighted as part of efforts to raise awareness of the issue.
