After reviewing documentation from the police and the license holder's response, Lillestrøm municipality has decided that there is no basis for sanctions against a restaurant in the municipality.
The background of the case was that the police raised concerns to the municipality after reviewing the restaurant's video surveillance. The police reported possible alcohol serving after closing time, use of drugs, and indoor smoking.
"We have reviewed documentation from the police and the license holder's response via attorney, and have concluded that no concrete violations of the liquor laws have been documented," writes Tone Wiker from Lillestrøm municipality in her decision.
Attorney Servet Yildiz Stêrk, who represents the restaurant, states that the municipality's conclusion is correct and aligns with their expectations. He has previously dismissed allegations of illegal activity and described challenges the restaurant has faced with individuals entering the premises against the staff's wishes.
In its assessment, the municipality concluded that the times in the video material show that serving took place within legal serving hours. They further point out that even though drug use and indoor smoking are illegal, the liquor law does not provide grounds for sanctions against this.
Police Station Chief Siw-Monica Eriksen in Lillestrøm Police District considers the municipality's decision to be acknowledged. She emphasizes that the nightlife industry has a responsibility to handle safety in its premises, and that the police and municipality have established cooperation forums to discuss safe nightlife.
The police inform that they have previously issued bans on presence in the city center to several individuals who were a burden on nightlife, and that one person is to appear in court in June for repeated violations of this ban.
